Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in South Austin
Here are answers to the questions I hear most often. If yours isn't here, please reach out — I'm happy to help.
The first session is all about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and what feels most important right now. There's no pressure to share everything at once — we go at your pace. I'll also share a bit about my approach so you can decide if it feels like the right fit. For kids and teens, I may also include a brief caregiver check-in.
Individual sessions are $75 for a 50-minute session. Group therapy sessions are $75 per person for a 75-minute session. I believe in transparent, straightforward pricing with no hidden fees.
I am currently a private-pay practice. I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement this way. Please contact your insurance provider to learn about your out-of-network benefits.
Yes. I offer both virtual and in-person sessions. Virtual sessions are available for anyone located in Texas. In-person sessions and nature-based therapy take place in the South Austin area. Many clients appreciate having the flexibility to choose based on what works best for them each week.
Nature-based therapy means some or all of our session happens outdoors. This might look like a walk on a trail, sitting under a tree, or engaging in mindfulness practices in a natural setting. It's still therapy — with clinical intention and skill guiding the experience — but the natural environment becomes a partner in the healing process. Many people, especially teens and kids, find this approach more grounding and engaging than traditional office settings.
LGBTQ+ affirming therapy means your identity is not treated as a problem to solve — it's a part of who you are that is welcomed and celebrated. As a queer-identified therapist, I bring lived experience alongside clinical training. Whether you're exploring gender, sexuality, navigating coming out, healing from rejection or religious trauma, or simply seeking a therapist who gets it, this space is for you. All identities, all expressions, all of you is welcome here.
I work with children ages 8 and up, adolescents, and adults. For group therapy, specific programs serve children ages 8–12, teens ages 13–17, and adults 18+. I tailor my approach to each person's developmental stage, using age-appropriate techniques and language.
Group programs run as seasonal cohorts — typically 6 or 8 weeks — with a set group of participants who start and end together. Groups are small (5–10 people depending on the program) to maintain safety, depth, and real connection. Each session is facilitated with a blend of guided discussion, creative expression, and body-based practices. You can view all current group offerings here.
That's completely okay — and very normal. Reaching out is the hardest part. You're welcome to contact me to ask questions before committing to anything. We can talk about what you're going through and whether my approach feels like a good fit. There's no pressure and no obligation.
